Brinkman steps into the leadership position at 31st Union following the departure of previous head the ex-Sledgehammer Games executive, who was reportedly let go due to Project Ethos' disappointing initial reveal last autumn.
On Wednesday, 2K president David Ismailer informed team members about this decision through an internal memo, which highlighted that playtesting had shown the necessity for a distinct game identity.
Ismailer expressed that the developers is now refining the project with a refreshed approach, aiming to satisfy player expectations.
A Pattern of Strategic Hires
The news follows a comparable move taken by 2K Games in the summer, when they recruited an industry veteran from Blizzard to assist with the beloved franchise studio Cloud Chamber.
